Why a Brazilian Hair Concealer Brand Chose KINODIN After Comparing 7–8 Chinese Suppliers

How KINODIN Supports an Established Brazilian Hair Concealer Brand

An established Brazilian men’s grooming and hair concealer company contacted KINODIN while searching for a reliable Chinese manufacturer of keratin hair-building fibers, hairline powders and precision applicators. Before making its decision, the company evaluated seven to eight potential suppliers in China.

The customer first became interested in KINODIN after learning about our manufacturing experience with one famous brand in Brazil. That existing Brazilian market experience provided an important starting point, but it was not enough on its own to secure the project. The customer carefully compared product quality, color control, packaging structure, communication and customization capabilities before selecting its manufacturing partner.

The cooperation has since developed into repeat container-scale production. A typical order includes approximately 24,000 units of keratin hair fibers, 30,000 hairline powders and 16,800 precision applicators. More importantly, this project shows that large-volume manufacturing is not only about production capacity. Small details—from the diameter of a sifter hole to the exact shade of a powder compact—can influence product performance, consumer satisfaction and the long-term value of a brand.

The Customer’s Market Position

The customer operates in Brazil’s men’s grooming and cosmetic hair coverage market. Its products serve consumers who want to improve the appearance of thinning hair, uneven hairlines, grey roots, visible scalp areas or sparse beard sections.

Its product portfolio includes keratin hair-building fibers, hairline powders, hair fiber spray applicators, men’s grooming products and cosmetic hair and beard coverage solutions. The brand sells through important Brazilian e-commerce channels and may also serve offline distributors, cosmetic retailers, barbershops and professional users.

Although the customer’s identity remains confidential, it is an established commercial buyer with the ability to purchase coordinated product programs at container scale. This made supplier selection especially important. Changing a factory after a product has entered the market can create shade differences, packaging incompatibility, interrupted supply and inconsistent consumer experiences.

Trust Started with KINODIN’s Brazilian Market Experience

The customer initially became aware of KINODIN through our manufacturing experience with Fox For Men, an established Brazilian men’s grooming company.

For an international buyer, a manufacturer’s experience in the target market can reduce uncertainty. Brazil has its own consumer preferences, sales channels, packaging expectations and import procedures. Working with a factory that already understands Brazilian men’s grooming products can make communication and product development more efficient.

Our experience with Brazilian customers demonstrated familiarity with dark hair shade requirements, men’s grooming product positioning, coordinated production of products and accessories, packaging for e-commerce and retail, and export preparation for the Brazilian market.

However, the customer did not select KINODIN only because of a reference. Our existing Brazilian cooperation opened the door, but product evaluation and detailed comparison ultimately determined the decision.

Comparing Seven to Eight Chinese Suppliers

The customer approached the project with a professional sourcing process. It compared approximately seven to eight Chinese suppliers before confirming its manufacturing partner.

The evaluation covered more than price. The customer assessed whether each supplier could reproduce the required quality during large and repeat orders. Its main comparison points included:

  • Keratin fiber texture, coverage and shade accuracy
  • Hairline powder quality and application performance
  • Bottle quality and dispensing control
  • Sifter-hole size and fiber-flow performance
  • Applicator compatibility
  • Packaging and color-development capabilities
  • Responsiveness during sampling and product development
  • Willingness to improve small components
  • Tooling and mold-development capabilities
  • Large-volume production and repeat-order consistency

Some manufacturers could supply a standard hair fiber bottle. Others could offer an existing hairline powder or a generic applicator. The more difficult requirement was finding one partner capable of coordinating all three categories while also improving individual components.

A Typical Container-Scale Order

After product evaluation and development, the cooperation moved into repeat container-scale purchasing. A representative order includes approximately:

  • 24,000 bottles of keratin hair-building fibers
  • 30,000 units of hairline powder
  • 16,800 units of hair fiber spray applicators

This combination requires coordinated procurement, production, assembly, inspection and export preparation. The fibers must match approved shades and work correctly with both the bottle sifter and the separate applicator. The hairline powders must maintain consistent color, texture and packaging appearance. Thousands of applicators must connect correctly to the selected bottles.

At this scale, a minor variation can affect a significant number of finished products. For this reason, the project is controlled through approved specifications, physical samples and production checks.

Developing the Keratin Hair Fibers

Keratin hair-building fibers provide a temporary cosmetic solution for thinning hair. The lightweight fibers attach to existing hair through electrostatic attraction, helping treated areas appear fuller and denser.

The Brazilian customer paid close attention to fiber fineness, coverage, natural appearance, electrostatic adhesion, shade consistency, dispensing speed, filling cleanliness, sealing and applicator compatibility.

The product needed to perform well when applied directly from the bottle and when used with a manual spray applicator. A fiber that works in a shaker bottle may not automatically flow smoothly through an applicator. Fiber length, texture, static behavior, bottle structure and nozzle design must be evaluated together.

Improving the Hair Fiber Dispensing Insert

One of the most important technical improvements in this project involved the perforated dispensing insert inside the hair fiber bottle.

The Brazilian customer paid close attention to how the keratin fibers were released. The original insert used relatively large holes. Although it could release fibers quickly, the larger openings made it more difficult to control the amount dispensed during application.

After evaluating the customer’s feedback and the actual dispensing performance, KINODIN decided to redesign the component. The objective was to achieve:

  • Smaller individual dispensing holes
  • A denser and more uniform hole arrangement
  • More controlled fiber release
  • Reduced risk of dispensing too much product at once
  • Compatibility with the selected keratin fibers and bottle

The comparison image shows the difference clearly. The original insert on the left has larger holes, while the improved KINODIN-developed insert on the right uses smaller, more closely arranged openings.

The revised structure helps consumers build coverage more gradually instead of releasing a large amount of fibers in one shake. Actual dispensing performance can vary according to the fiber material, fiber length, bottle configuration and application method, so KINODIN tested the component using the actual keratin fibers.

From Customer Feedback to KINODIN-Funded Tooling

The improved insert was developed in response to the Brazilian customer’s detailed requirements, but it was not created as an exclusive component owned by that customer.

KINODIN managed the entire development process:

  1. Identifying the limitations of the original insert
  2. Evaluating the desired dispensing performance
  3. Redesigning the hole size and arrangement
  4. Developing the component structure
  5. Producing and evaluating samples
  6. Testing the insert with actual keratin fibers
  7. Opening the production mold
  8. Inspecting trial components
  9. Moving the improved insert into mass production

KINODIN paid the design, tooling and mold-development costs. This allowed us to convert useful customer feedback into a reusable packaging improvement for our wider hair fiber manufacturing program.

The Brazilian project was the first major application of the improved structure. After the component entered production, Indian customers also evaluated it and responded positively to its controlled dispensing performance.

The improved insert is therefore not exclusive to one brand. It can be offered to other qualified private label customers when it is compatible with their fiber material, bottle and product positioning.

This development reflects KINODIN’s role as more than a product assembler. When an existing component does not provide the desired application experience, our team can evaluate the issue, improve the structure, invest in tooling and bring the redesigned component into scalable production.

Supplying 16,800 Precision Applicators

The customer’s typical order includes approximately 16,800 manual spray applicators for use with the keratin hair fibers.

An applicator allows consumers to direct fibers more precisely around the front hairline, temples, parting lines, beard sections and smaller thinning areas. Compared with shaking fibers directly from a bottle, it provides greater control and may help reduce unnecessary product use.

Applicators are not universally compatible with every bottle and fiber material. The pump mechanism, internal tube, bottle connection, nozzle opening and fiber characteristics must work together.

For this project, KINODIN checked the applicator-to-bottle connection, pump operation, nozzle output, fiber flow, spray direction, resistance to blockage and consistency during repeated use.

Developing 30,000 Hairline Powders

Hairline powder was another central part of the project, with approximately 30,000 units included in a typical order.

Unlike keratin fibers, which attach to existing hair, hairline powder adds cosmetic color to the appearance of the roots, hairline and visible scalp. It may also be used to improve the appearance of beard areas.

The customer placed exceptional importance on:

  • Powder quality and coverage
  • Shade accuracy
  • Texture and blending performance
  • Powder pickup and application
  • Container structure
  • Packaging color and surface finish
  • Logo presentation

The customer was not willing to select a standard powder and package solely because they were available. Formula quality and visual design both needed to match the brand’s market position. Samples were evaluated before mass production so the decision could be based on physical product performance and appearance.

Managing Color Across Formula and Packaging

Color management was one of the customer’s highest priorities. The project involved keratin fiber shades, hairline powder shades, plastic bottle colors, compact colors, printed logos, labels and retail cartons.

A color that appears correct on a computer screen may look different when reproduced in plastic, printing ink, compact powder or keratin fiber material. Even when the same Pantone reference is used, the final appearance can vary because of material texture, surface gloss, transparency, printing method and lighting.

For this reason, approval relied on physical references such as plastic samples, printed packaging, fiber shades, powder samples, benchmark products and pre-production samples. Once approved, the physical reference became an important standard for mass production and repeat orders.

Quality Control During Mass Production

A project involving tens of thousands of units cannot depend only on final inspection. Quality controls must be applied throughout production.

Checks for the Brazilian project may include:

  • Incoming raw-material inspection
  • Fiber and hairline powder shade comparison
  • Packaging component dimensions
  • Bottle and dispensing-insert compatibility
  • Sifter-hole structure and fiber-flow tests
  • Applicator connection and operation
  • Filling weight
  • Powder condition
  • Printing position and packaging color
  • Component assembly and sealing
  • Retail box appearance
  • Shipping carton quantities and marks

The customer’s decision was not based on the lowest quotation. After comparing seven to eight potential suppliers, it selected KINODIN because the project required a combination of capabilities:
