This analysis became the starting brief for a new private label hair growth serum. The goal was not to make an identical product. It was to preserve the most valuable commercial ideas—multi-active positioning, convenient daily use and non-greasy application—while creating a distinct formula and a stronger multi-peptide identity.



Clarifying What “Peptide-Powered” Really Means
One reason the client liked the reference category was the perception of advanced active ingredients. During development, it was important to separate true peptides from other branded cosmetic actives.

Creating a Non-Minoxidil Cosmetic Positioning
The client was interested in consumers who wanted a daily hair-density serum without using minoxidil as the central product concept. This created a valuable market position, but it also required careful wording.

Minoxidil is a regulated drug active in many markets. Peptides, botanical extracts and cosmetic scalp-care ingredients should not be presented as clinically equivalent to minoxidil without appropriate evidence and authorization. Why the Client Chose a 60 ml Format
The successful benchmark used a 30 ml bottle. Rather than following the same size automatically, the client selected a 60 ml format for its UK product. The larger capacity created several commercial advantages.


It provided more product for a routine intended for consistent use.
It created a visible point of difference from many 30 ml competitor serums.
It supported a stronger value proposition in Amazon product images.
It allowed the brand to communicate a more complete daily-care format.

Capacity alone does not guarantee value. The recommended use amount, packaging cost, target retail price and expected usage period all need to be considered together. For this project, 60 ml became part of the product’s differentiation rather than merely a larger version of the reference.



Balancing Active Ingredients with a Lightweight Texture
The client wanted an advanced ingredient story, but consumers would judge the product first by how it felt on the scalp. A heavy or sticky serum could interfere with styling and discourage daily use, regardless of the number of featured actives.

The product brief therefore prioritized a lightweight, fast-absorbing texture suitable for direct scalp application. It needed to spread without creating a thick oil film and to fit either a daytime or overnight routine. Formula development also had to consider the solubility and compatibility of multiple peptides, botanical extracts, moisturizers and supporting ingredients.

These figures represent a point-in-time observation, not a permanent sales claim. Ratings, badges, prices and purchase volumes can change. With a relatively small review sample, it is also too early to describe the serum as an established bestseller. The appropriate conclusion is that the product achieved a positive initial response and successfully extended the brand into a new daily-care category.
