Prototype Comparison
Select the Sensory Direction Before Fine-Tuning
Both prototypes use the same focused active base. Their main differences are alcohol, cooling and fragrance, allowing brands to compare the sensory experience without changing the core ingredient concept.
| Comparison | Prototype A: Fresh & Refined | Prototype B: Minimal & Gentle |
|---|---|---|
| Alcohol | Controlled low-alcohol system | Alcohol-free |
| Cooling | Mild cooling sensation | Cooling-agent-free |
| Fragrance | Light, clean fragrance; customizable | Fragrance-free |
| Scalp feel | Fast-drying, fresh and clean with subtle cooling | Soft, light and neutral with minimal sensory stimulation |
| Best suited to | Premium daily-refresh positioning and a noticeable application ritual | Minimalist positioning and markets that prefer alcohol- and fragrance-free scalp care |
Current sample status: three bottles of each prototype have been prepared, six bottles in total, for side-by-side evaluation.
Focused Active System
Purposeful Ingredients at Transparent Prototype Levels
Instead of relying on an unnecessarily long ingredient list, the base combines scalp-conditioning, hydration and oil-balance ingredients with supplier-supported complexes. The following percentages are prototype reference levels and may change after sample review, stability work and destination-market assessment.
| Ingredient / Complex | Prototype Level | Formula Role | Technical Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supramolecular caffeine complex | 2% | Energized scalp-care story and lightweight conditioning | 50% caffeine, 40% niacinamide and 10% cyclodextrin; delivers approximately 1% caffeine. The raw material has a supplier human-efficacy report. |
| Niacinamide | 3% direct addition | Scalp conditioning and oil-balance support | The caffeine complex also contributes niacinamide; the final total should be confirmed from the approved formula. |
| Panthenol | 0.6% | Moisture support and improved scalp comfort | Supports a comfortable, conditioned feel without a heavy finish. |
| Multi-peptide complex | 0.5% supplier blend | Premium peptide-based scalp and hair-conditioning concept | Includes Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 and Hexapeptide-3. The 0.5% refers to the complete blend, not pure peptides; supplier in-vitro data are available. |
| Betaine | 0.6% | Lightweight hydration | Helps balance a fresh dry-down with a comfortable after-feel. |
| Zinc PCA | 0.15% | Oil-balance and fresh-scalp positioning | Supports a clean, non-greasy product concept. |
| Supramolecular biotin complex | 0.1% | Premium hair-conditioning ingredient story | Contains 10% biotin and delivers approximately 0.01% biotin; supported by supplier literature and in-vitro information. |
| Fermentation-derived PDRN complex | 3% supplier blend | Non-animal-derived scalp-conditioning concept | Built around Bifida Ferment Lysate, Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate and Sodium DNA. The 3% refers to the complete blend, not pure Sodium DNA. |
Formula Strategy
More Than Simply Adding Caffeine and Zinc PCA
Focused ingredient architecture
A concise system combines caffeine, niacinamide, peptides, biotin, ferments, Panthenol, Betaine and Zinc PCA, with each material selected for a clear formulation or positioning role.
Sensory engineering
Alcohol level, cooling intensity, fragrance character, spray pattern and dry-down can be adjusted together to create a premium experience without oily or sticky root feel.
Market-aware customization
Final ingredient selection, claims, labeling and transport documentation are reviewed according to the target market and the confirmed commercial formula.
Preliminary INCI

Sample Evaluation
What to Compare During Prototype Testing
Our R&D team recommends Prototype A as the primary sensory route when a fast, fresh and refined experience is the priority. Prototype B provides a useful minimalist comparison and can become the lead direction for brands that prefer no alcohol, fragrance or cooling agent.
Packaging & Delivery
Match the Formula with the Right Applicator
A premium scalp tonic depends on controlled application as much as formula design. KINODIN can help evaluate fine-mist sprayers, precision nozzles, comb applicators, droppers and pump formats according to viscosity, dose, leakage risk and use ritual.
Common reference sizes include 30 ml, 50 ml, 60 ml, 100 ml, 120 ml, 150 ml and 200 ml, subject to component availability. Bottle material, color, decoration, carton and labeling can be customized.
OEM / ODM Process
From Sensory Brief to Commercial Formula
MOQ and lead time depend on the confirmed formula, fill size, packaging, decoration and testing requirements.
Quality, Claims and Shipping Considerations
Before commercialization, the selected formula and packaging should complete the agreed stability, packaging-compatibility and microbiological assessment. Cosmetic wording should focus on scalp conditioning, lightweight hydration, oil-balance support, a fresh non-greasy finish and healthier-looking hair, unless additional finished-product testing supports more specific claims.
For the low-alcohol version, transport classification cannot be determined from the ingredient list alone. It should be confirmed from the final alcohol level, flash-point result, package configuration and SDS. KINODIN can also evaluate the alcohol-free direction when simplified shipping is a priority.
FAQ
Private Label Scalp Tonic Questions
Is this marketed as a hair-growth treatment?
The prototypes are developed as cosmetic leave-in scalp-care products. Final claims must match the approved formula, finished-product evidence and the rules of the destination market.
Does the current formula contain Copper Tripeptide-1?
No. The current prototypes use a four-peptide supplier complex. Copper Tripeptide-1 can be evaluated as a customization request, subject to formula compatibility, raw-material availability and destination-market review.
Can 2-deoxy-D-ribose be added?
2DDR is excluded from the current China-oriented prototype pending a suitable regulatory pathway. Our team can recommend alternative cosmetic ingredients that better fit the target market.
Can we choose a completely alcohol-free version?
Yes. Prototype B is alcohol-free, fragrance-free and cooling-agent-free while retaining the same core active direction.
Can the fragrance and cooling level be customized?
Yes. We can adjust fragrance family, intensity, cooling character and dry-down after evaluating the initial samples.
What is the MOQ?
MOQ is confirmed after formula, volume, packaging and decoration are selected. Contact KINODIN with your project brief for a practical quotation.
