A buyer should request the proposed INCI, specification and sample instead of assuming that all products labeled “keratin” are identical.
Keratin-based systems are commonly chosen for traditional premium hair-concealer positioning. Their actual coverage, softness and adhesion must still be evaluated in the finished shade and package.
Plant-based or cellulose-based fibers
“Cotton hair fibers” is widely used as a commercial category, but the term may not fully describe the processed cosmetic material. Coverage Is More Than Fiber Length

Excessively long, clumped or irregular material may dispense poorly, while overly short material may behave more like dust.

Hair fibers perform best where some hair remains for attachment and visual blending. Results can be limited on smooth areas with no existing hair. Product instructions and marketing images should represent realistic use conditions.

A shade name such as dark brown does not guarantee the same visual result across two fiber systems. Base material, colorant combination, fiber fineness and lighting can influence perceived depth and undertone.

Spray applicator
A hair fiber applicator can help target the front hairline, temples and smaller areas. Compatibility depends on bottle neck, connector, internal path, airflow and fiber material. A component that screws onto the bottle is not necessarily functionally compatible.
Hold spray
A compatible hair fiber hold spray may improve resistance to normal movement, wind and light moisture. Performance claims should reflect the tested fiber-and-spray system. Temporary cosmetic fibers should not automatically be described as completely waterproof.
Refill format
Refill packs can reduce packaging use and support repeat purchases, but the pouch must protect the material from moisture and make transfer practical. Flow and density differences should be considered when labeling refill weight and compatible bottle size.
